My Dad

I love my dad! My dad is a quite man who always is willing to help out when ever asked. He is also a man who doesn't like to sit still. He quietly is always busy about doing something. It is a good thing he has a citrus farm to keep him busy with lots of work and things to do. On the Citrus farm he also has Date trees that he has to keep trimmed up and pollen them each year.

On Friday my dad was up in one of these tall date trees doing this work. He is 71 (to be 72 this Friday) but he is still climbing trees as if he were 12. He really doesn't get this idea of retirement.

Anyways his ladder fell and to make a long story short he ended up falling from the tree. He ended up shattering his ankle and braking both of his leg bones in one leg which ended up breaking through the skin. Luckily for him he had a cell phone. He called my sister Shay and she gathered up a few of my nephews who drove out to orchards and got him off the ground and rushed him to the hospital. They are having to do several surgeries on him and say that his ankle will never be the same.

As my sister got him into the Emergency room they ran into Dr. Price who is in my parents ward and who works in that ER. Dr. Price looked and my father and said "Robert I told you, You have to stop climbing those trees."

I feel so bad for my dad. I want to be able to be there to visit him in the hospital. He has such a long stay and surgeries to go through. He will have a long recovery processes to go through at home and I wish I could be there to help my mom. It is times like this that I hate being so far away from family. I feel like there is so much I want to do and so little I can do.

Edit: my sister Shay has this blog post that explains things with pictures much better than I can since she was the one there for the event.

Shawntel, I am so sorry this happened to your Dad. You can be so proud of him though that he is such a hard working active person. I hope that he recovers quickly. Thank you for sharing this on your blog. Carol

Oh Shawntel I hope he has a quick recovery. It's no fun being so far away when things like that happen. My dad's going through radiation treatments right now and I can't tell you how many times I've cried because I can't be there to help. Keep us posted on how your dad recovers.

How scary! It must be hard to be away from your family right now. Isn't it a comfort that the Lord looks out for each one of us? I hope your dad gets well soon. :)

I hope your dad does ok. I hate it when stuff like that happens and there is nothing you can do about it. I can't believe how big your girls are getting. They are so beautiful. I have to admit that I am a little jealous you are living in the Netherlands. That is so awesome. Is the weather as beautiful as is looks? It looks like are are doing good and staying busy. Me and Angie were driving around today and no joke I told her that I really miss B.A. and Dono, that you guys truly are the funniest guys we know.

Love Keri Brooks (go away!)
